Now, my illustrious career hasn't really got off to a good start - i've been out of action for 2 months so far with a broken leg and expect to be out another 2-3.
I would like people's thought on this web log HERE
But to save time, here it is:
Welcome to my first Web log (I refuse to use the shortened version - it sounds like I'm going to take a dump). I'm going to start by recapping probably the most interesting thing to happen to me in the last year, as you may or may not know, at the beginning of this year I started doing something I've wanted to do for about 20 years; train to be a professional wrestler. Now, I know some of you are thinking "Gaaaaaaaay!" and to those people I say "So's your face!". Professional Wrestling is a demanding industry, both physically and mentally. And no, it isn't "fake", it may be scripted, coreographed (to a degree) and the results pre-determined but you can't fake gravity, and trust me...those knife edge chops (WOOOOO!) are real!
I started by attending a training session at the closest promotion to Bristol, UCW. I'd been to a couple of their shows and was looking forward to the training, So, after a couple of training sessions (never once with the "trainers" I might add) I ended up refereeing at one of their shows in Peasedown (near Bath). So, all was going well until the main event, I was supposed to be thrown from the ring, typical bad-guy chennanigans would ensue and I would get back in the ring to count Rocco out of UCW (Loser leaves UCW match). Now, it was an excellent plan in thory, but this happened:
Now, I don't blame anyone at UCW for the accident, they happen, boo hoo get over it Jamie. So, I get helped backstage where I'm told it's only sprained; now - I'm a first aider and I train and test the subject at cadets...does that look like a f****** sprain to you? So I argue; "It's broken" I says, "No it isn't" comes the reply, so I have to phone my own ambulance and the guys who I was supposed to be going out drinking with (and I'm supposed to be staying at one of their houses) just leave -yeah, thanks! I do have to give kudos to Spyke, he stayed with me backsage and made sure I was ok, making sure my kit was looked after, etc. Cheers dude.
I have to go on record as saying that I, personally have no hard feelings towards anyone at UCW - it's hard to hold a grudge against a promotion that, in all probability will be dead ny the end of the year. They recently released Chris Petherwick, now, this guy was easily one of if not the best guy on the roster and one of the best up and comers on the UK wrestling scene in my opinion (the guy was trained by Jake "The Snake" Roberts for pete's sake!) because he missed a show (basically). They also "released" (though he technically quit) Ken "Hero" Flatt (www.kenflatt.com - join the forum!) a man who put in countless hours of his own time doing media work for the company FOR FREE, because he was unable to get to a show!
There are many great talents at UCW; Ethan Skie, Atom and Rocco to name a few, and hopefully, after the death of the company they will carry on working the UK and one day, make it to the big leagues. Unfortunately, politics is a big part of this business and certain people's faces fit better than others.
I wasn't planning on going on for this long, but I got into it. Thanks for reading, until next time...um....don't kill puppies!

Dude... A ****estorm has really started here.
It would seem that UCW are burying thier heads in the sandpit and trying to avoid the matter.
I cant beleive anyone would justify thier behavior in what they have been doing. The death threat to Ken's house was bad enough as it is. Look at how they have avoided that.
I don't have a vendetta against UCW or anything but this probably has'nt been the only time they have done something completely wrong and justified it's wrongness. They really ought to sort thierselves out.

u.c.w will not be dead by the end of the year yes jamie broke his leg but we all thought he was just selling it at the begining then after a cupple of minutes we came out to help him
it was only 1 of the men there in the locker room that said it was a sprain and that was dann read not any of us and he wont be at u.c.w anymore for other resons

I just want to drop this now, that web log was an opinion. I think UCW is in trouble but like I said, it's an opinion.

Speaking of Dann Read... I wonder if anyone knows about the conspiracy against him to make him leave UCW. Thus him joining the list of many others that have been stabbed in the back by the cowboy promotion.
I think Jamie deserves an apology at least.

dann read has gone from u.c.w for resons unknown but jamie what the **** are you on about u.c.w r in troble and ken u.c.w.made you from a backyardy to a star so why are you calling them cowboys

I will never deny that I had my big break in UCW. However they are not the only promotion that can offer me oppurtunity.
If I really wanted to exploit UCW and give them a bad name I would have done so by now. It's hard to put UCW behind me when people are coming to me about Hero's Drone and his opinions. I want to stop being dragged into it.
I have a lot of good freinds still in UCW and I want to see them succeed. UCW was like my second family and I was one of the most loyal people there. I am hurt by the way I was used and mis-treated.
I am taking a break from the wrestling business to concentrate on my GCSE retakes. Having UCW brought up at me, makes me think they want me back or something.
After all I was thier no.1 Media Man.

Whilst Ken I know has nothing against UCW, he and others are welcome to their opinions of it as a wrestling federation, just like everyone talks about all the other feds.
At the end of the day, Ken was a star before he even went to UCW. EPW has been watched by literally 100s, possibly 1,000s of fans globally since its internet broadcast debut, and has been very successful without every really trying too hard.
It has it's own shops which sell well, DVDs and CDs, well edited internet programming, a cast who care about wrestling and it's fans, well done media, a family attitude to the show itself (PG rated), isn't run by any power hungry people booking themselves against guest workers all the time, relies soley on it's own roster and not guest workers to save it, it's FREE to fans, got famous for having one of the biggest and most controvertial threads on the old, former BY Forum in the UK, and is the only BYW fed in the UK that we know of that is sensible and doesn't do all of the things which are wrong with BYW, that indy wrestlers hate.
EPW was never about wrestling abaility, not that we don't have it. It's about tounge in cheek entertainment and having FUN, and Ken was and IS great in that.
I hope fans see Ken not as a junk match wrestler or a BYW, but as a wrestler who can't afford his own gym and won't let that stop him wrestling.

I agree with you Kim. I have been a Ken Flatt mark since the days of epw and its been brilliant to see his transition to the independant scene. i will always see him as corporate ken than hero. Like I said on the UCW boards - its thier loss not ken's. they should not have treated him like **** in the first place.
leones. I hope you sue Ucw for whatever pennies they have left. They should be shut down.

I doubt there is anything to sue them for, after all they borrow money from Reno the Ref which is well tight, and try to stiff wrestlers out of their own money after they've already paid for training (a go in their ring) with stuff like lottery syndicates and paying off Gareth's insurance - hello, he should pay that off himself.
I doubt they will last til January 2007 to be honest and if they do, it will be in name only because they don't have shows on hardly ever and about 3 wrestlers on their roster who are not guest workers or someone who quit/was fired already.

Well that's pretty funny, why would they do that, it's not like we're a rival fed or anything ;)
I think he should worry about putting his own house in order i.e.e sorting out the problems within UCW as a fed and not harras or spend time bad mouthing individuals who are already bigger success stories than him anyway, in terms of raw achievement in ///OR/// out of the ring (yes, everything is life isn't measured by having a wrestler's name tattooed on your body or by how many guest workers you've booked yourself on a card with).
I would rather measure a man by, out of those who he's worked with, who would speak highly and who would speak lowly of him. On that score, there's really no contest.
