Boxing Day for me has been a relaxing day as it should be. I got to open the rest of my presents and kick back after a 2006 of running around for everyone else and adjusting to a big occupation change. It is a shame that every year Boxing Day now seems to be belittled and treated less with more people working (Yes I know people are not being made to work!) and more shops opening everywhere. Boxing Day is sadly becoming just a mere date marking in the Christmas TV guide if anything. Any of the programmes you could not fit into the Christmas Day TV schedule are slotted in on the day after. I mean… There’s like 11 other days of Christmas you can spread programming across. Old School Boxing Day needs to come back!

I called in next door to my neighbour Iris’ house this afternoon to see if she was ok and to also deliver a Christmas card that was delivered at my house by mistake. I was given the bad news yesterday that Iris’ husband Jim passed away in his bed on the Saturday just gone. I wanted to make sure that she wasn’t alone especially at this time of year. Iris and Jim were married for a good 50 years. How many modern day couples will be able to say they “were married for 50 years” in 50 years time? I dare say not many with the new immoral ethic in relationships today. Iris is fortunately having a lot visitors, family and company through this difficult time along with both George and I only being a doorbell ring away.

I’m working on some new artwork for my devart gallery. Hopefully some new artwork will be online soon.

That’s it for my Boxing Day blog. I hope my Santa Hat wearing Grimlock figure arrives in the post soon.

Have a good Boxing Day and please… Don’t Work!

===KEN
